The King’s Fund appoints new Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships

The King’s Fund has appointed Siva Anandaciva as its new Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships.

Siva takes on the role having served as the health and care charity’s Chief Analyst since 2017. Before joining The King’s Fund, he held senior analyst roles at NHS Providers and the Department of Health. In addition to his current role at The King’s Fund, Siva is a member of the Office of Health Economics policy committee and the steering group of the BRACE Rapid Evaluation Centre. From January 2025 he will also join Barts Health NHS Trust as an associate non-executive director.

Siva’s appointment comes at a critical time for the health and care system. The government is undertaking a significant policy development exercise to create its 10-year plan for health and care, and is implementing its new ‘mission-based’ approach to health. At the same time, many people are struggling to access the care and support they need, in a context of tight finances, NHS performance below constitutional standards, low public satisfaction, and desperate need for social care reform.

Commenting on Siva’s appointment, Sarah Woolnough, Chief Executive of The King’s Fund, said:

'I am delighted that Siva will be taking up the new role at such a pivotal moment for the health and care system and at an exciting time for The King’s Fund as we develop our new strategy. Siva has long led The King’s Fund’s work on NHS funding, finances, productivity and performance, driving national debate through his incisive analysis. He is an authority on health and care and his deep understanding is a huge asset for The King’s Fund. Siva will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships.’

Siva Anandaciva, incoming Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships at The King’s Fund, said:

‘I’m really pleased to be starting my new position at The King’s Fund at this incredibly important time for the health and care system. With the 10-year plan and comprehensive spending review to come in Spring, The King's Fund will continue to advocate for more care to be delivered closer to home, bolstering prevention to help us lead healthier lives, tackling the worst health outcomes, and making careers in health and care more attractive and fulfilling. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with brilliant colleagues, stakeholders and partners throughout the health and care sector over the coming years.’

The Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships role leads The King’s Fund’s research, analysis, policy, events, and partnerships functions. Siva Anandaciva is expected to take up the role in the coming months.

Siva Anandaciva and Alex Baylis have been acting Co-Directors of Policy at The King’s Fund since July, when the previous postholder, Sally Warren, joined the Department of Health and Social Care to lead development of the 10-year health plan.
